OK Go + Sesame Street = Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Firstly, Sesame Street has a Tumblr?  Tech savvy toddlers rejoice. 

As I am now living in the years that nineties television shows and movies called the future, I look back happily.  I watched TGIF faithfully.  I had an AOL email account when it was cool to have one.  I enjoyed a time when rollerblades, side ponytails, and pagers were a big deal -and not ironically so.  My teen idols were wholesome, wore pants (or at least undergarments) in public, and definitely did not have inappropriate twit pics and public rehab stints.  They had the decency to hide such things.  Granted the horror of hearing the creepy demon voice when Teddy Ruxpin’s batteries start to die is something that some cannot shake. But honestly, that is a small price to pay to be a child of the last decade of the twentieth century.  Being a child of the nineties afforded me the luxury of experiencing life before the tech and internet boom, while being young enough to adapt.

Of course, I’m completely biased.  And considering that my barometer for generational coolness is based on how much cooler I think the cool things from back then are than some of the cool stuff now, I’d have to say that I believed that the new kids on the block were getting gypped.  I’m sure my sentiment is a byproduct of getting old.  I can be quoted on more that one occasion as having uttered “kids these days.”  I haven’t begun shaking my fist at them, but I get the itch. I’ve felt my fist vibrate with disapproval.  I have yet to lift it.

Then I saw this.  Sesame Street, the saving grace.  Touché children of the twenty-first century.
